Support for understanding and using the Australian Curriculum
Community Language Schools (CLS) can access resources on the Australian Curriculum and Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) websites to support their understanding of the Australian Curriculum.
Australian Curriculum
The
Australian Curriculum sets the learning expectations for all students as they progress through the first 11 years of schooling.
For CLS using the Australian Curriculum, the
Professional Learning Hub provides information about the structure and design of the Australian Curriculum: Languages.
QCAA
The QCAA plays a critical role in the design and delivery of education in Queensland, in collaboration with a range of stakeholders and partner agencies. It provides helpful information on the curriculum, along with resources that support its implementation. CLS may wish to explore these resources when planning to use the Version 9 Australian Curriculum.
The
QCAA has developed Languages resources for Auslan, Chinese, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish, and the Framework for Aboriginal Languages and Torres Strait Islander Languages. These resources can be used and adapted to suit a range of languages.
Developing a language learning program
CLS are required to provide a language learning program to students. To develop their language learning programs, CLS should refer to one of the following:
CLS do not need to submit their language learning programs when applying for a CLS grant, however, program planning should be kept up to date with a copy readily available on request.
